our furry family

happy was our first small dog. she is what we call a “walk on” as she came onto our property (crawling under the fence) on a very rainy day, january 21, 2011. she was about 3 months old. it has taken happy a long time to warm up to everyone, but she has become very close to several “special friends” at the winery. she is the queen b and we adore her!

yogi is our newest winery dog. he was born march 19, 2017 and came to us from sandy’s long time close friend michelle. yogi is an australian shepard/golden retriever mix. he is a big lover and fits in wonderfully with our entire pack. you may see him at the winery (on a leash) as he sometimes gets overly excited to meet visiting dogs and needs a little more time relaxing into his ‘chill out’ mode. buddha is teaching him how to one day become the pack  leader.

fiona was born december 7, 2008 in gilroy. she is a pure bred labrador and was given to us by dear friends we met at preschool. she loves the farm life and begs intently for food at the winery. she is super strong and deeply loved by buddha, yogi and all of us!

buddha is our pack leader and our eldest, most respected dog. we found him running on monterey highway the summer of 2007. he was roughly 6 months old. buddha loves all animals deeply, including our cat spitfire, but especially the visiting horses from our past dream power events. we love buddha and hope he teaches yogi everything he knows because he is a very special dog.

easy’s arrival at satori is a mystery. one sunday morning in 2010, i saw a black lab running around on the grass who i thought was fiona. and then a moment later there were two black labs running around on the grass together. we don’t know anything about her “story” but we welcomed her with loving arms. she doesn’t seem to like kids much…. but adores all the attention (and food) she can get from adults.

pearl was born january 28, 2013. her original name was hanna. she is a pure bred english lab. when she was 3, she was given to us by a close friend who realized she needed more than they could provide. we renamed her pearl and she immediately and  happily became a part of the pack. she thinks she is a small dog, and is yogi’s best friend. we adore pearl!

skipper and ginger (we believe they are husband and wife, lol) were two stray dogs escorted “off the busy road “ and “onto our property” (by tiffany bay) september 28th, 2013.  skipper is a handsome, sweet, white male chihuahua/papillon mix.  he is super smart and likes all dogs.  he thinks he is the pack leader and wants to go everywhere with sandy.

ginger is a brown scruffy “toto” like dog.  we didn’t know it at the time, but she was pregnant on arrival, and 6 weeks later gave birth to 7 puppies.  ginger will dance and beg for food and sometimes does “sneak attacks” at other visiting dogs.  she really is harmless and has a huge heart.

gilligan and marvel were born november 15, 2013.  you may not have seen them much, as they are both little rascals and are still getting use to being “well mannered” at the winery.  they love to bark and sing loudly!

pepper is one of the original puppies of skipper and ginger. at 8 weeks old she went off to live with another family, but 5 years later, she was returned to us and we are so happy to have her back home with her brothers and parents where she belongs. she is happy too!

i’d like to give a shout out to the other puppies from the litter… colby, who comes to the winery occasionally with bailey while she works, molly and bert, who show up to almost every harvest, and albert who visits on his annual birthday celebration in november.  it’s rare to have a family of dogs still sharing life together, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

sunny is a beautiful chocolate palomino rocky mountain gelding. he was originally named Danny Boy, and was given to our vineyard helper raymundo. in 2010 Rey went home to Mexico and we rescued his horse, renamed him sunny, and have loved him up ever since. he doesn’t like to be ridden anymore so we just let him BE!

wonder is a handsome bay gelding, an oopsy cross between a quarter horse and a welsh pony. he arrived at Satori in february 2010 as a 3 year-old. he is fun to ride and is a super loving happy horse.
